Now it's raining more than ever

As of Tuesday, Matt Kemp had been benched by LA Dodgers manager, Joe Torre, for the third consecutive game. After seeing his name left out of the line-up once again, Matt had a closed door meeting with Torre. The initial rationale given by Dodgers' brass for the benching was due to an argument between Kemp and coach Bob Schaefer days earlier. However, it is hard to mask the fact that Kemp has simply not been playing well in recent weeks. Matt entered Tuesday batting .258 for the season and a dismal .196 during the month of June. In 14 plate appearances entering Thursday's series with the Angels, Kemp struck out eight times. That came after being picked off second base in Wednesday's 2-1 to the Angels. That said, Matt may be the most recognizable .258 hitter of all time. Kemp has been linked to singing star, Rihanna. Pictures of the two have been all over the Internet the past few months . . . at Lakers games, sunbathing on yachts, etc. An unwritten rule in sports is that if you want to gain notoriety off the field, court, etc. then you had better perform on it, and right now Matt hasn't been carrying it on the field. After being benched, what next . . . ban from the BET Awards?
