At 5:30am the following message came across my Twitter timeline:

BREAKING NEWS:  Braylon Edwards arrested for DWI in Manhattan.  Remember, you heard it here first.

I didn't pay any attention to it however.  My first thought was "why are they messing with Braylon so early in the morning?"  Then somewhere around 6:30am I saw a tweet from what looked like an official news source:

Braylon Edwards arrested early Tuesday morning on suspicion of drunk driving.

The "official news story" itself seemed pretty bizarre.  It appeared that Edwards was pulled over by police at 5:15am on 34th street and 12th avenue because the tinted windows on his Range Rover were "too dark".  Police then gave him a breathalyzer test and found his blood to contain twice the legal limit of alcohol.  Then around 8:00am, when he was supposedly still in custody, there was the following message from @OfficialBraylon:

Good morning world...Winning is the goal, perfection is the aspiration, & dedication is the key to unlock the door #LetsWork.

ESPN is saying that he was indeed arrested.  The DWI would fall under the NFL's substance abuse policy and not a "personal offense".  If this is Edwards' first substance abuse offense then the league cannot suspend him.  The Jets may issue their own suspension which may be challenged by the Players Union.  Whatever the deal is, I hope to soon see him back on the field and ready to "put the work in".
