FALL OUT FROM BRAYLON'S TINTED WINDOW INCIDENT |

Braylon Edwards was pulled over Tuesday morning around 5am and charged with a DWI. Prior to the incident he attended Jericho Cotchery Foundation's Monday Night in Manhattan, a fundraiser in mid-town Manhattan to raise money for underpriviledged kids. On the field, Cotchery plays like a man "possessed", running over defenders and dragging a few along the way. From the things I have read, off the field, he seems cognizant of the positive role professional athletes are capable of playing in the community. The event included mingling with several New York Jets (including Edwards), watching Monday Night Football and playing cards. The event concluded around 10pm, at least seven hours before the DWI charge. Obviously, it didn't take the media long to connect the dots. Below are excerpts from Twitter where New York Post reporter, Bart Hubbuch, tries to blame the Cotchery event on Edwards' DWI. He even makes a "tie-in" to Dustin Keller's previous fundraiser . . . telling "what had happened and what he's seen or heard".
NYPost_Hubbuch: I was at Dustin Keller's charity function last week, and booze flowed like crazy. Felt like a nightclub. So Edwards DWI doesn't surprise me.
NYPost_Hubbuch: @rob_sports That's a fair point. Just wanted to point out that these player charity functions are typically booze-filled.
Rob_Sports: @NYPost_Hubbuch maybe I'm wrong, but it just seems like J-Co and his faith makes me think there wouldn't be alcohol. Braylon did it himself
MyNJJETS: @NYPost_Hubbuch Wow! Were you AT Cotchery's event? It was freakin OVER by 9:30am. Way to cast a DARK CLOUD over fundraisers! Stupid!
@MyNJJETS responds to Hubbuch's attempt to take some of the shine off of a good cause and alerts Cotchery and Keller to the attempted "rouse". MyNJJETS: @DustinKeller81 @cotcheryfoundat - If you want 2 C how this BS hack @NYPost_Hubbuch has attempted 2 take away from your heartfelt charity...
MyNJJETS: @NYPost_Hubbuch Wow! Were you AT @cotcheryfoundat event? It was freakin OVER by 9:30am. Way to cast a DARK CLOUD over fundraisers! Stay away
"Allegedly" Braylon and some teammates went to Club Butter after the fundraiser. Steiny31: I'm being told Braylon and a teammate when to Club Butter after Jerricho Cotchery's charity event. The rest is history.
Former Jet Kerry Rhodes probably says it best here . . . it was an acknowledged mistake and the bigger picture is that noone got hurt. |
