INTERPOL ISSUES ARREST WARRANT FOR WIKILEAKS FOUNDER PDF Print E-mail

International police organization, Interpol, has issued an arrest warrant for Wikileaks founder Julian Assange.  The warrant comes two days after Wikileaks released over 250,000 U.S. diplomatic cables to major news orgainzations, including the New York Times.  Assange is wanted for "sex crimes" reported by two women he met at a conference he gave in Stockholm, Sweden on August 14th.  Two days later both women filed their complaints together, which I understand have since been dropped.  According to Assange's lawyer, "the allegations against him are false and without basis", and represents a smear campaign against him.  U.S. Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, has gone as far as to say that the release of classified information by Wikileaks represents a serious breach of U.S. national security.
