Pau, girlfriend in happier times
Imagine that you work at IBM and like most sales organizations, the "80/20" rule persists, i.e. 20% of the sales staff generates 80% of the revenue.  Since you are fairly inexperienced, you obviously don't generate much revenue and are being "carried" by the top performers.  Common sense should tell you that since your production (or lack there of) won't be missed by the company, you should refrain from being a distraction of any kind.  Now imagine that someone spread a nasty rumor that you were in an inappropriate relationship with the fiancee of the second highest producer in your department and the engagement was broken off because of you.  That would be the unluckiest accident that could happen to anybody . . . wouldn't it?  Odds are the company would have to choose between you and the second highest revenue generator.  Well that's exactly what happened to the Lakers' Shannon Brown when he was accused of playing checkers with Pau Gasol's fiance.

I don't know if the rumors are true or not, and nor do I care.  What I do know is that like any in other business, one of them has to go and odds are it will be Brown.  As if that wasn't bad enough, to add insult to injury, you took to Twitter and make a public reference to the dude's woman:

Could you imagine if this were Michael Jordan instead of Pau Gasol?  If Shannon Brown had sent this tweet making reference to "Michael Jordan's woman" on Saturday night, he would have been frying fish by Sunday morning.
