The Shock Exchange's 12U team and 13U team competed at the Atlantic City Classic over over the weekend of July 7-8. Both teams had an impressive showing as they both went 2-1 and finished one game short of making it to the championship game. The 12U team defeated a team from Wayne, PA and defeated the Delaware Magic out of Dover. The Shock Exchange and the Magic were evenly matched as the Shock Exchange held a 7-8 point lead throughout the game, only to see the Magic fight back to tie the game late. The Shock Exchange could have folded but instead, dug down deep to retake control of the game and pull out a six point victory against a very game and determined Magic squad.
The 12U's finished the tournament with a loss to the talented and very well coach Mount Vernon Boys & Girls Club. The Shock Exchange stayed competitive for most of the game until a 10-0 run by Mount Vernon put the game out of reach. Overall the team played very well and competed hard considering this was only its 7th game together. Though play from the 13U team was uneven at times, the team also finished 2-1, defeating teams from Wayne, PA and Brooklyn, NY. The 13U's finished with a loss to the Albany City Rocks which was the eventual champion of the 13U division. Overall it was a successful weekend for both times and the coaching staff was pleasantly surprised by the showing at it first AAU tournament of the summer. |
