After entering AAU tournaments in New York City, New Jersey and greater Philadelphia areas, the Shock Exchange ended the summer by placing second in the Cassandra Roland summer tournament sponsored by Hoop Connection. The Shock Exchange competed in the 13U division, though the squad included three 13 year olds, five 12 year olds and three 11 year olds.
The team played valiantly all summer, advancing to the finals of the tourney held in the heart of Fort Greene. The Shock Exchange nearly shocked all of Brooklyn as it got off to an early 8 point lead against in the Championship game against Brooklyn United, one of the more established travel teams. Shorthanded and without some key players, the Shock Exchange succumbed to the bigger and more experienced and very well coached Brooklyn United club. The team was led in scoring and rebounding by the Ellis’, Tyreke and Larry. Thanks again to Ms. Ruthie, Ms. Wynn, Joseph Brewster and Jay for the hospitality they showed the Shock Exchange this summer! |
