PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY, MD THE MECCA OF BASKETBALL? |

Attending Shock Exchange Comes to Harlem June 26-28? (Picture from ESPN). According to Chris Palmer of ESPN, Prince George's County, MD is the Mecca of basketball. Palmer cites current stars like Kevin Durant and Michael Beasley as evidence of PG County's dominance. He also mentions the area's high percentage of McDonald's All-Americans in recent years. This is an excellent piece that cuts through the clutter and speaks facts. Palmer details the work the PG County kids put in on developing fundamentals which is lost on a lot of kids today who too often opt for the spectacular. I was also happy that he mentioned the impact of Len Bias, the best basketball player I've ever seen next to Michael Jordan. I too have mentioned Bias and the DC/Baltimore hotbed on our site (see Press Clippings). PG County is definitely a basketball hotbed, but the Mecca won't be decided until Shock Exchange Comes to Harlem, June 26-28 at City College.
