NJ NETS FOR SALE . . . BROOKLYN NOT DEFINITE |

Courting investor group? The Newark Star Ledger is reporting that Bruce Ratner has put the NJ Nets up for sale. Ratner expected the Nets to be the centerpiece of its Atlantic Yards development complex in the Fort Greene section of Brooklyn. However, numerous delays from lawsuits have led to millions of losses at the Meadowlands. Ratner's intent is to sell the club to an investor wedded to moving the team to Brooklyn. However, Newark mayor Corey Booker would like to keep the team in Jersey and is putting together an investor group to move the Nets to the Prudential Center. Newark would seem like a natural place to move the team.
Besides, why be so hellbent on moving some place where you aren't wanted? Fort Greene has too much traffic and not enough available parking as it is. Following is a link to the article: http://www.nj.com/nets/index.ssf/2009/07/newark_mayor_cory_booker_not_s.html. (Picture: Newark Star-Ledger) |
